Little Stoke Bowled Over by Local Councillors Grant Aid

Little Stoke is celebrating after securing funding to purchase a much needed new bowling machine.

Little Stoke was awarded funding of £1,284 from Staffordshire County Council’s Local Community Fund through contributions from County Councillors Jill Hood and Ian Parry.
The fund is an initiative which supports local communities directly through county councillors. Each councillor has £7,500 a year to allocate to groups and organisations in their division to improve local services and boost community groups.

Little Stoke’s new bowling machine will be used by the Club’s ECB qualified coaches during coaching sessions for their one hundred junior cricketers in order to further improve their batting skills.

Alan Palmer, Vice Chairman of Little Stoke Cricket Club said: “This funding will allow the Club to further improve our facilities for the benefit of our playing members particularly all of the young cricketers, girls and boys, who attend our coaching sessions. We are extremely grateful to Councillor Hood and Councillor Parry for this funding allocation”.

Councillor Jill Hood commented: “It’s a privilege to be able to use my Community Chest to help the younger members of the Club. Who knows, we may even see some of them playing for their country in the future and that would be a great achievement.”

Little Stoke Cricket Club’s junior coaching sessions are currently taking place each Sunday afternoon between 1.45pm and 4.45pm at Alleynes Sports Centre in Stone.

All age groups are catered for from Under 8’s up to U14’s with sessions open to both boys and girls. New junior playing members are always welcome.
