This morning, Little Stoke Under 13 Girls (the ‘Wildcats’) played Alrewas Girls at home in the Lady Taverners Under 13 Cup (8 a side). This was a match of firsts, with it being the first time we have entered a Girls team into a Cup competition, and (we believe) the first known all girls match on the bottom pitch.
Alrewas won the toss and asked Little Stoke to bat. After the loss of one wicket, Sophie Beech and Izzy Gliddon put on a partnership of 75, with Izzy making 32 (off 43 balls with 3 fours) and Sophie Beech an almost run-a-ball unbeaten 52, including 2 fours. This is Little Stoke’s first ever 50 for a girl! The team finished on an excellent 101 for 4 off 20 overs.
When Alrewas batted, the Wildcats kept the runs down, supported by excellent fielding from the whole team. This included a stunning direct hit run out by Daisy Heyes. There were wickets for Sophie and Izzy, and very economic bowling from Sky Hollinshead, who bowled 5 overs for 6 runs, and also Sophie Betteley, with 6 runs off 3 overs. Alrewas finished on 49 for 6 off their 20 overs, with Little Stoke winning by 52 runs.
